DAY 1: Hiking tour at Olympus mountain - Enipeas gorge
Having the village of Litochoro as your base, you begin to discover the breath-taking gorge of Enipeas, the most famous Gorge of Olympus.
The starting point of your tour in the gorge is the position Prionia in the springs of Enipeas, at an altitude of 1.100m. Following a well preserved and adequately marked international path of mountain routes E4, you meet a natural environment that enchants with its dazzling beauty. Dense vegetation with pine, beech, slopes, gorges and ravines, picturesque wooden bridges, running water, ponds with crystal clear water and small waterfalls.
The Agio Spilaio is of great interest, where Agios Dionysios in Olympus lived secluded, and the monastery of Agios Dionysios (relics of the old monastery are kept, in a renovated building of the 19th century, established on the 16th century and constituted a revolutionary base on various periods).
The international mountain path E4, after a route of 9 km in length (of moderate difficulty) and a duration of about 4-6 hours, ends in the position “Myloi”, one of the entrances of the National Park of Olympus at an altitude of 400m. From there you arrive at the Litochoro Central Square and delicious dinner follows in a traditional tavern. You spend the night at a hotel in Platamon.Route Details
DAY 2: Cycling tour at Meteora
Our excursion begins after a good breakfast in the hotel and we move, by bus and with all bicycles, to Kalabaka that constitutes the city-gate of the huge stone complex of Meteora. The cycling tour begins from Kastraki.
We take an uphill route with a direction to the monastery «Big Meteoro» and then to the monastery «Varlaam» and then the hovering Monastery of «AgiosStefanos ».
The masterpiece of nature spreads before our eyes. The holy place constitutes a breath-taking spectacle!
Kastraki, nestles between the rocks and it is the most beautiful village in the area and the base of operations for the climbers. e go to a special location in order to know the sport of climbing from a qualified instructor on the holy rocks, something very popular in the area and it attracts the specialist athletes and amateurs from all over the world, to the marked routes. There we will try the climbing route for the beginners and we will get to know the custom of AgiosGeorgiosMantilas. At the same time with this activity, some cycling exercises and crafts will take place (for the children under 18 years of age who want to participate).
Later on, we take a break for lunch in a traditional tavern with delicious Greek food.
In the afternoon we ride again to visit the Natural History Museum and the Mushroom Museum. A stop for coffee or a sweet follows and a free tour to the traditional local shops of the area.
The excursion is concluded with commemorative photos and greetings.
