Our 1day hiking excursion starts from the Central Square of Anatoli village at 950m.  Heading to the historic Monastery of IoannisProdromos by bikes, we have a guided tour at the monastery and then we return to Anatoli.  We make a short stop for rest and a snack and continue  the descend following two options:

1rst: By choosing the route to the south, crossing the part of the national path O2, uniting to Kissavos to Pelion and Olympus. The route is easy, adequate for all ages, well signaled, rich in vegetation and passes through forest path to cobbled street. After about two and a half hours we reach at the village of Metaxochori at an altitude of 200 m. .It is one of the most beautiful villages of the area, with many traditional houses, most of them mansions, with rich history and tradition, as it had, in the past, developed the artisanship of silk, as its name denotes (metaxi=silk).Our excursion is complete at  town of Agia.

2nd: we continue by bicycles for the 17 kilometers descend from Anatoli to Metaxochori and to Agia, enjoying at the same time the unique natural beauty of Mt. Kissavos and the coastline of Chalkidiki, Pieria, Agiokampos, to Pelion, which fills up the horizon.

    Kissavos Mountain

    Kissavos, or in other words Ossa, is a mountain in the Larissa regional unit, Thessaly which is located of the municipality of Larissa to the north-east and Tempi and Pineios river to the south, opposite to Olympus mountain. It is considered the continuity of Olympus, geologically speaking, and it is divided from it by the Vale of Tempe. Its maximum height is 1.978 m (Prophet Helias).

    Ossa is located between the valley of Larissa to the west, the valley of Aghia to the south and the sea to the east, where its slopes end, forming coves. The mountain is divided into two parts by a valley, which is called “the Big Canyon” to the north and “the Big Stream” to the south.

    Geologically speaking, Ossa is considered to be a mountain of great interest, since in its base it consists of crystal rocks, which are covered by other igneous rocks.

    The eastern and northern sides of Kissavos are surrounded by a verdant environment, where one can find himself among beech, chestnut and pine forests. On its southern ridge there are also some firs. The eastern side of the mountain is soaked by the Aegean Sea, where lay beautiful beaches, mixed vegetation, as it is bushy, plane and hydrophilic trees and hundreds of streams at the sea level, while on highest levels one can find beech and fir trees. On most of its sides, mostly on its eastern ones, there are impressive canyons with violent streams, the most beautiful of which is the stream of Kalypso, a scenery which is surrounded by waterfalls, ponds and sharp rocks. On the north-eastern side the rocky and wild beauty of the landscape is obvious. The cone of the peak is naked from vegetation. In the peak of the mountain there is also a marvelous underground little church, dedicated to prophet Helias on a height of 1.978m.
